Malthoid is a tough and flexible bitumen coated felt used for the prevention of rising damp in brick/block walls. Made from 2-ply felt material it is impregnated with bitumen, which is also covered in a fine sand to prevent sticking when rolled and al,so making it inert to lime and other alkalis found in cement and mortar.
